From 2021 the Just Eat riders will be hired with an employee contract with hourly pay and all the protections ensured by a subordinate employment relationship.

It can be read in a note from the delivery company.

Just Eat, part of Just Eat Takeaway.com, will also introduce "Scoober" in Italy from next year, the delivery model already active in some of the countries of the group, which frames the riders as employees, allowing them to have more advantages and safeguards and retaining the flexibility and ability to operate by combining study and other activities.

The "Scoober" model will allow flexibility in relation to the contract, full time or part-time, and provides for an hourly wage, therefore corresponding to the shift covered by the rider and not linked to individual deliveries, on which an additional bonus will be assessed.

In smaller cities, riders will be able to operate with their own vehicles and a complete supply of safety devices, as well as branded clothing and a delivery backpack provided by Just Eat, in larger cities, such as Rome and Milan, real and its own hubs covering the heart of the city, where riders will be able to collect and use, for their shift, only totally sustainable vehicles such as electric scooters or Just Eat e-bikes, tools for deliveries such as helmets, jacket and backpack. They will be joined by riders who operate with their own means, especially in areas outside the center and with the possibility of choosing when applying for employment.

All "Scoober" riders will be employees and therefore fully protected and insured.

"A decision - explains the note - that is part of a virtuous path that the company has been following for years, aimed at making the market grow and evolve and building a system that is increasingly in step with the needs and peculiarities of the sector, improving the business model but also working on the construction of a model capable of protecting workers more and more ".
