Kevin Mayer is cursed. A year after his pitiful outing at the European Championships on a zero point to length, the world record holder for the decathlon, longest favorite in his own succession, had to leave the World Championships in tears, betrayed this time by his body. Injured in his right knee and left Achilles tendon, Mayer let go during the pole vault while he was leading the competition. In 2020, he will undoubtedly be hungry to go to Tokyo to pick the Olympic gold medal, the only title missing from his record.
