The Sharjah Misdemeanors Court started hearing the case of six people of different nationalities who were accused of neglect. A child (4 years old) drowned in a swimming pool in a private school in Sharjah without being seen by supervisors and teachers.

The details of the incident indicate that the Comprehensive Industrial Police Station received a communication from Al-Qasimi Hospital stating that a student died of drowning and was transferred to the school by the criminal investigation team to find out the causes and circumstances of the accident.

The Public Prosecutor's Office directed six accused to harm the safety of the child as a result of negligence and not to take precautionary measures. They did not provide security and safety measures, which resulted in the child sinking and his death.

According to the order of referral, the Public Prosecution, represented by AH, charged that he did not take the necessary protective measures to protect students from the danger of drowning in the swimming pool, leaving the premises uncovered without supervision, The swimming pool, leaving the doors leading to it open without lock or protection, caused the student sinking.

The second defendant, a teacher of sports education (Arabic), the third defendant, the swimming instructor (Italian), the fourth accused, an Australian teacher, the fifth accused, a Filipino support worker and the sixth accused Filipina, As a result of their negligence to leave and failed to monitor the pool.

The judge was charged with the charges against them and denied them. The case was adjourned until April 6 to attend the legal representative of the school, pay the charges to the civil rights attorney and enable the defendants' clients to submit their defense after reviewing the file.

The fourth defendant, lawyer Awatif Mohammed, said her client had been a teacher at the school for years and performed her duties to the fullest, demanding that the file be filmed to determine the position of her client and to present the defense memorandum.

The father of the child held the school fully responsible, because he informed them that his child was very active, did not mastered swimming, and included the note in his file, but they neglected the safety procedures, causing his death drowning.

According to the Police and Prosecution investigation record, the principal stated that he was in a meeting when he was informed that a student had been drowned in the swimming pool. He went to the clinic to check on him. He asked for the ambulance and the child was taken to the hospital.
