Saudi Arabia announced the death of a US pilot in a helicopter crash during air training in the capital Riyadh.

According to a statement by the Saudi National Guard, US pilot Paul Reddy was killed and Saudi pilot Hisham bin Abdul Aziz al-Sheikh was injured during routine training at Khashm al-An airport in Riyadh after a Boeing A6I helicopter crash.

The incident resulted in the death of the American trainer and the injury of pilot pilot Hisham al-Sheikh, who was taken to the National Guard's National Medical City of Abdul Aziz for treatment, the statement said.

He stressed that the condition of the pilot is stable, and the investigation committees complete their procedures to find out the causes of the accident.

For his part, spokesman for the Saudi National Guard Major Mohammed al-Amri said the helicopter crash occurred Thursday morning, calling for waiting for the results of the investigation to be accurate news.

In statements to the official Saudi news channel, Al-Omari explained that the exercises carried out by the military and combat units in general have an error rate.

He pointed out that this is the first mistake since the inauguration of the National Guard Air Force, the establishment of the airport and the start of training and that errors are contained, without further details.

The National Guard forces include the elite Saudi military, often recruited from tribes close to the Al Saud.

Saudi Arabia is one of the most important US allies in the region, and the two countries' military forces hold annual joint exercises.
