The new Sudanese government is continuing its seduction operation with a call to the international community to support the transitional military council that toppled President Omar al-Bashir last week to achieve a democratic transition. Call also to the opposition to propose the name of a prime minister.

The military has committed to appoint an independent figure to lead the next government. She is actually asking representatives of the popular protest to agree on a name. This Prime Minister would then be responsible for forming a civilian government.

That's what came out of a meeting between the military council and political parties on Sunday. But this new hand extended towards the protesters does not seem to convince.

First, the meeting itself was boycotted by the leaders of the protest, the "forces of freedom and change", this coalition of opposition parties and the Association of Sudanese professionals. They refused to go there because of the presence of Omar al-Bashir's party. Intolerable according to them.

These representatives of the protest also say they are waiting for a response from the Military Council to a series of proposals they made on Saturday. Like dissolving the Military Council or integrating civilians, or accepting that this Council does not concentrate all the powers.

The standoff continues in Khartoum where the street maintains its demands, that of an immediate transfer of power to a civilian government. The Sudanese Professionals' Association also calls for this new government to try Omar al-Bashir. Result, in front of the headquarters of the army, Sunday afternoon, tens of thousands of demonstrators were still at the rendezvous.
