“On Thursday, late in the evening, Yevgeny Kalinin, a Russian energy expert, was detained at the Athens airport. The arrest was made at the request of Ukraine. Kalinin was in Greece on a business trip. He is a well-known oil specialist, ”said the lawyer.
According to him, the hearing on the case of the Russians took place on Friday, after which, by the decision of the prosecutor, Kalinin was sent to prison “until the Ukrainian request for extradition is delivered to Greece”.
Rakhiotis noted that Ukraine accuses Kalinin of violating tax laws while working in the country.
“However, this is a political matter. Kalinin is in the list of the famous site "Peacemaker". He is being persecuted for supporting the former president of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, ”the lawyer said.
He informed the prosecutor about the inclusion of Kalinin in the list of "Peacemaker".
As the agency clarifies, until 2011, Yevgeny Kalinin served as vice president of TNK-BP Commerce in Ukraine.
