"It is quite clear that the Americans are illegally present in Syria and are engaged only in aggression ... They are not expected to have any positive role in the Syrian issue," the Iranian leader said.
According to him, "the barbaric and illegal interference of the US in the affairs of Syria does not correspond to any international rule."
"Their presence only aggravates the problems and complicates the establishment of peace in Syria," added Ruhani.
September 7, Tehran hosts a tripartite summit on Syria, in which Russian leader Vladimir Putin, Turkish and Iranian presidents Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Hasan Ruhani take part.
