Qatar has granted 68 armored vehicles to Somalia on Thursday in support of Doha for Mogadishu to stabilize state institutions and confront armed groups, Qatar's Defense Ministry said.

The Qatari Defense Ministry said the armored vehicles delivered in Mogadishu would "tighten the muscles of the Somali state institutions."

In a ceremony in Mogadishu to hand over the Qatari grant, Brigadier General Mahmoud Abdullah al-Ghazal said that the State of Qatar is providing this military equipment to overcome the Somali government on what he called "terrorism" and to strengthen the security of the country.

For his part, thanked the Somali Defense Minister Hassan Ali Qatar to stand with the Somali government and people, stressing that his government is determined to fight terrorism and restore the prestige of the state.
