"The sides noted the successful nature of the Russian peacekeeping operation on the banks of the Dniester and agreed that, as a guarantee of peace and stability in the whole region, it should be continued in the existing format," the text says.

Earlier, Moldovan President Igor Dodon said in an interview with Izvestia that it would be impossible to turn off the Russian peacekeeping mission in Transdniestria before the political settlement of the conflict.

In early August, Dodon spoke about progress in the Transnistrian issue.
