An internal document from the security authorities places a heavy burden on the AfD-affiliated Patriotic Platform (PP). It would be "significant evidence of anti-constitutional aspiration" of the organization before, according to a note of the North Rhine-Westphalian constitutional protection, which circulates nationwide in security agencies. "The purpose of the PP is to exert influence on the AfD with its right-wing extremist agenda and thus to shape politics," continues the document from North Rhine-Westphalia. In the PP board, there were known defectors from other right-wing extremist organizations.

The North Rhine-Westphalian Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) had made a public push last week to observe the PP. Bremen and Lower Saxony had announced to observe the Junge Alternative, the youth organization of the AfD.
