Tizyakov worked at MZiK from 1956 to 1991.

Under his leadership, the company created and put into service more than 20 types of anti-aircraft missile systems, including the S-300V anti-aircraft missile system.

In 1988, Tizyakov headed the Association of State Enterprises and Industrial, Construction, Transport and Communications of the USSR, and then became Vice-President of the Industrial Union of the USSR.
