An explosives find in a house near Trier has triggered a large-scale deployment of police and fire departments. The police found on Wednesday evening in searches in the basement of a multi-party house in Hedgehog in the district of Trier-Saarburg explosives, as the police headquarters Trier announced. An expert of the state criminal investigation office noted that the explosive was "highly explosive".

The police and the fire department then closed the area and rail traffic was also temporarily suspended. Residents in a radius of 200 meters around the locality had to leave their homes. Affected were about 150 people: About a hundred of them were in a gym, the others with friends and relatives.

The evacuations were completed around 1.20 am, the police said. Subsequently, specialists had removed the explosive from the house and defused him "immediately in a remote place outside hedgehogs".

The police claimed to have detained a person "on suspicion of an explosive offense". According to the current state of investigation a politically motivated background of the "acting persons" should be excluded. The investigation continued.

According to the police, a total of 150 helpers from the fire and rescue services and 36 police officers were on duty.
