Anyone thinking of romantic comedies may have Julia Roberts or Meg Ryan, Hugh Grant or Ryan Gosling in mind; at least rather leading actors, who are slim. James Corden has commented on this phenomenon in an interview: "Chubby" actors are not cast in romantic roles because the film industry is averse to showing how they fall in love or have sex.

"Fat" actors have to accept that they find in movie and television "certainly no one is ever attractive," the British presenter told actor David Tennant in his podcast "David Tennant Does a Podcast With".

Overweight people would at best be cast as a good friend of someone who is "attractive", and maybe occasionally bring a "funny joke". "When you get older, you probably play a judge somewhere," said the 40-year-old.

James Corden: No one finds you attractive

Corden, famous for his "Carpool Karaoke," began his career with a role in the British series "Fat Friends." It is not the first time that he has expressed himself overweight in show business and related discrimination.

In 2016, he told Rolling Stone that he never understood why unattractive or heavy people did not fall in love with romantic comedies. "If they do, it's a weird, crazy, awkward way - but it's not like that."
