In the circle Paderborn about 30 people were injured in a bus accident according to police. A 50-year-old and a 10-year-old girl were taken to hospital with serious injuries. Shortly after the accident in Lichtenau in East Westphalia, the police had initially reported 20 injured.

The bus had left the road in the morning at about 7 o'clock on a county road on a straight line and collided against a tree. At the time there were 35 passengers in the bus, including many students on the way in Paderborn schools.

Even before the ambulance arrived at the scene of the accident, parents notified by students as well as another bus driver reached the scene of the accident and provided first aid. In use were fire and rescue service as well as several emergency physicians and two rescue helicopters. Emergency counselors took care of bus passengers and relatives.

The uninjured bus driver was taken for suspected drug or drug use a blood sample. The bus is now being examined by experts for possible technical defects.
