The district court of Dortmund has sentenced a 22-year-old to seven years in prison because he had thrown a branch on the highway 45. The man was found guilty of attempted murder.

For the court is certain that the perpetrator in the summer of 2018 out of frustration has hurled a 2.6-meter-long and ten-pound branch from a bridge on the road. Previously, the young man had been thrown out of a bus because he had drunk alcohol while driving. The branch had hit the hood of a car. The driver had suffered a shock.

The defendant stated in the process that he could not remember anything because he was too drunk. This was judged by the court as a protective claim. "As long as memory gaps are absolutely incredible," said the judge at the verdict. The defendant knew exactly what had happened. The 22-year-old was convicted of DNA traces on the branch.
