China News Service, Beijing, December 12 (Sun Chenhui) When people are busy, there may be a mother and baby of southern right whales rushing out of the Atlantic Ocean at the same time; Maybe herds of fur seals are desperately fighting against great white sharks; Maybe flamingos are building dune nests on Mexico's coastline for parenting... These images are vividly captured in Earth Pulse III.

After being online for more than a month, "Earth Pulse III" ranked at the top of the Douban film rating list with a high score of 9.8 points. With the theme of "Our Home, Our Future", this season not only continues the DNA of the previous two films, but also tells the resilience and resilience of nature from a new narrative perspective.

Nick Percy, president of global marketing at BBC Studios, said in a recent interview with China News Service that he was very pleased to see "Earth Pulse III" so widely received in China. To some extent, this may raise awareness of the need to protect the environment and promote a global consensus on the harmonious coexistence of people and nature in the face of challenges such as climate change.

Over the course of 1904,43 days, the Earth Pulse III production team visited 3200 countries and regions on six continents, using advanced filming equipment such as light drones, high-speed cameras and long-range deep-sea submersibles to capture a series of "first-in-history" video records. For example, the film crew used a deep-sea submersible to reach a depth of 40,<> meters, filming the world's largest known school of octopus for the first time; With the help of a military thermal imager, the magnificent lion colony that first appeared on the Skull Coast of Nabimia was recorded in <> years.

Jonny Keeling, one of the producers of the "Earth Pulse III" series, shared that Chinese light drones were also used for this aerial photography equipment. The compact and high-definition equipment helped a lot in the filming of "Earth Pulse III".

According to Nick Percy, BBC Studios has worked with the Chinese nature documentary team to produce a more realistic, vivid and high-quality nature documentary, showing audiences the natural wonders of China and ensuring that the documentary can bring a truly global perspective.

He mentioned that China has a vast land area and abundant natural ecological resources. For example, China's giant pandas, Sichuan golden snub-nosed monkeys, and the Taklamakan Desert are all "regulars" in BBC documentaries, and these resources provide unique conditions for the filming of natural ecological documentaries.

"I believe that any civilization should be in awe of nature. In Earth Pulse III, our display of authenticity and inspiration creates a deep connection with nature that resonates with audiences regardless of Eastern and Western civilizations. Nick Percy introduced.

After more than a decade in the Chinese market, BBC Studios has worked with the Chinese documentary team to launch a number of high-quality documentaries in the natural sciences, from "Beautiful China", "Dynasty", "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Future", to the acclaimed "Planet Series". At the 2023 China International Fair for Trade in Services, BBC Studio also entered into a new documentary content collaboration with Youku to co-produce the nature documentary "Mammals", which focuses on the earth's mammals.

Nick Percy believes that these successful collaborations have brought BBC Studios' internationally minded and production-scale shows to Chinese audiences. At the same time, the local perspective and positive contribution provided by the Chinese team have greatly enriched BBC Studios' creative themes in the selection of subject matter for the documentary.

Today, BBC Studios' collaboration with the Chinese team is not limited to nature documentaries, but also science and humanities documentaries.

"Every project is an opportunity for technical exchange, even cultural exchange. The collision of expertise between the Chinese and UK teams means that we can further improve production and efficiency, and both parties benefit from working together. Nick Percy said. (ENDS)
