In July, a 7-year-old male student at a special needs school at a dental clinic in Sakai City, Osaka, became hypoxic when he underwent a treatment to remove his teeth under general anesthesia, and died about a month later, according to interviews with his family. It is suspected that the tube that sends oxygen to the lungs accidentally entered the esophagus, so the police are investigating the situation at that time in detail.

According to the bereaved family, in July, Yudai Tomikawa (7), a special needs school student, became hypoxic when he underwent a procedure to remove his wisdom teeth under general anesthesia at the Sakai City Dental Clinic for the Severely Handicapped in Sakai City, Osaka.

The student was subsequently taken to another hospital, but did not regain consciousness and died about a month later.

According to documents submitted by the clinic to the bereaved family, the student had a tube inserted through his nose to send oxygen to his lungs to ensure breathing, but it is believed that the tube entered his esophagus instead of his trachea.

According to the family, the clinic admitted the mistake and apologized two days after the student was taken to another hospital, but has not given a specific explanation since then.

Police believe that there is also a suspicion of manslaughter in the course of business and are investigating the circumstances at the time.

The Sakai City Dental Association, which operates the clinic, said in response to an interview, "We cannot answer anything."
