China News Service, Shanghai, December 12 (Reporter Chen Jing) The reporter learned on the 6th that in the future, the three provinces and one city in the Yangtze River Delta will take the lower reaches of the Yangtze River as the backbone, focus on the Yangtze River Delta ecological green integration demonstration area, establish a coordination mechanism, promote the inter-provincial connection of the Yangtze River ecological corridor and the construction of important nodes, and accelerate the construction of an integrated pattern of ecological protection and development of the Yangtze River Delta corridor.

The 2023 Joint Conference of Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui Forestry Departments to Solidly Promote the High-quality Development of Forestry Integration in the Yangtze River Delta was held in Shanghai on the same day. "One core" is to take the Yangtze River Delta Ecological Green Integration Demonstration Zone as a demonstration and guidance, and explore the joint construction and protection of cross-provincial (municipal) ecological corridors; The "One Belt" refers to the construction of green and clear ecological landscape shelter belts along both sides of the main stream of the Yangtze River.

According to the Outline, by 2025, the provincial level of the ecological corridor of the main stream of the Yangtze River will be preliminarily realized; By 2035, a network of primary and secondary ecological corridors along the Yangtze River will be comprehensively constructed, which is vertically and horizontally networked, continuous and complete, with beautiful landscapes, stable structures and complete functions, and promote the integrated development of ecological corridor construction towards a holistic, systematic and ecological development.

The meeting focused on the theme of "jointly building the Yangtze River Delta ecological corridor and preventing and controlling Spartina alterniflora". The forestry department of the Yangtze River Delta signed the "Cooperation Agreement between the Forestry Departments of Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui to Jointly Promote the Construction of the Yangtze River Ecological Corridor in the Yangtze River Delta and the Prevention and Control of Spartina alterniflora".

Spartina alterniflora is a perennial herbaceous plant native to the southeastern coast of the United States. Currently, Spartina alterniflora is included in the list of the most dangerous invasive species in the world. The Yangtze River Delta region is the main distribution area of Spartina alterniflora, which accounts for more than 70% of the country's area, with a large number of tasks and high difficulty in eradicating and controlling.

It is understood that in recent years, the Yangtze River Delta region has concentrated its efforts in the prevention and control of Spartina alterniflora and achieved remarkable results. It is estimated that by 2025, the Yangtze River Delta region will complete the task of Spartina alterniflora, and the eradication rate will reach more than 90%. (ENDS)
