Star Flyer, which is headquartered in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, has decided to expand the service that allows dogs and cats to be brought into the cabin to all domestic flights from January 1 next year.

In March last year, when the impact of the coronavirus pandemic was ongoing, Star Flyer launched a service that allows owners to bring dogs and cats into their cabins in an effort to increase the number of passengers by allowing them to enjoy air travel with their pets.

According to the company, this service is currently limited on routes between Kitakyushu and Haneda, but will be expanded to all domestic routes from January 3 next year.

The one-way fare is 1,15 yen per pet.

The type of pet is a small dog and cat that fits in a special cage, and the cage can be fixed on the window seat in the last row, so that the owner can sit on the side.

Since its launch, the service has been used about 300 times, and there have been many requests to expand the number of routes and flights that can be used.

Star Flyer has been in the red for four consecutive years in the six months to September, and although it continues to face difficult management, it hopes to expand its users and acquire new customers by developing its own services to meet customer needs.
