Singer Taylor Swift, Time magazine's 2023 Person of the Year

She is the most popular American pop star currently in the United States and one of the most prominent singers on the planet. Last September, she won four awards at the MTV Video Music Awards. Time magazine chose her as its 2023 Person of the Year.

Coming from a country background, she adds another accolade to a long list of hits and records. She was named by Time magazine as the 2023 Person of the Year. Editor-in-Chief Sam Jacobs commented: "Much of what (Taylor) Swift has accomplished in 2023 is immeasurable (...) She was committed to giving value to the dreams, feelings, and experiences of people, especially women, who felt neglected and regularly undervalued.

This is the first time that a personality belonging to the cultural scene has been featured on the front page of the magazine. Last year, it was Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky who was celebrated by Time, Elon Musk, boss of SpaceX and X (ex-Twitter), was singled out by the American magazine in 2021.

Author, composer and performer, Taylor Swift launched her career in 2006 with her first hit, Tim McGraw. She is only 16 years old. Three years later (2009), his album Fearless became the best-selling album in the United States. Since its inception, it has built a veritable empire, worth, according to some estimates, more than a billion dollars. The singer of Midnight Rain, Shake It Off and Cruel Summer could even influence the 2024 presidential campaign.
