In Ginowan City, Okinawa Prefecture, where singer Namie Amuro held her last live performance, a project is underway to postmark the mail with Amuro on it. In response to Mr. Amuro's desire to contribute to Okinawa even after retirement, donations from this project were given to nine orphanages in the prefecture.

This project, in which mail is postmarked with Mr. Amuro's drawing, is being carried out by Ginowan City and the Okinawa branch of Japan Post with the concept of realizing Mr. Amuro's wish "for the future of Okinawan children."

On the 6th, a ceremony was held at the Ginowan Marine Support Center, where a post commemorating Mr. Amuro was set up.

At the ceremony, Mayor Matsukawa of Ginowan City said, "I hope that the donation for the project, which was started in response to Namie Amuro's strong wishes, will help children in a difficult environment to have a bright future," and presented a total of 9 million yen to representatives of nine orphanages in the prefecture.

Speaking on behalf of the orphanage, Yutaka Uehara, director of Ishimine Children's School in Naha City, expressed his gratitude, saying, "This project gave us hope and encouragement when we were quarantined and had various restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The donations since the start of the project have now reached 500 million yen, and Ginowan City and others will continue to promote this initiative in the future.
