Could Marwan Berreni have been saved? In the new documentary Marwan Berreni, The terrible death of the actor of Plus belle la vie - What really happened? Broadcast this Wednesday night on W9, relatives of the actor say more about his condition, just before ending his life.

Marwan Berreni, a man "adrift"

According to one of them, Marwan Berreni, alias Abdel Fedala in Plus belle la vie, was at his worst since the end of the series on France 3. This relative paints the portrait of a young man "adrift". "He was getting shabby. Everyone could tell he was totally stoned," the anonymous witness said, before referring to Berreni's alcohol and cocaine addictions. These statements are in line with those of a young woman who met the actor a few hours before his death. "He was tired, bearded, dressed a bit in summer evening wear. It was there, in the middle of a heat wave, around 15 p.m. His head was a little down," said Aurélie Chapuis, who was with her partner when she saw Marwan Berreni.

"Maybe we could have saved him"

"We wondered why he walks in the vineyard," she says. Aurélie says she feels "guilty" for not having acted. "I didn't imagine it at all. I'm a little sorry because with what happened, I carry a lot of guilt. I tell myself that I could have stopped and maybe I could have seen that he was in pain and needed help. Maybe we would have found him and saved him."

This summer, just after the death of Marwan Berreni, his friends had assured that he was "getting back on track" and was looking forward to resuming the filming of Plus belle la vie at the end of October for the new version on TF1. The comedian hanged himself in an abandoned house in Corcelles-en-Beaujolais, after an accident involving his vehicle.
