The governors of four prefectures, including Kanagawa and Yamanashi, where an intermediate station between Shinagawa and Nagoya in Tokyo is scheduled to be established on the Linear Chuo Shinkansen, which is finding it difficult to open as planned, met with Prime Minister Kishida and requested that he clarify the outlook for the opening date and provide support for the revitalization of the area around the station.

The governors of Kanagawa, Yamanashi, Nagano, and Gifu prefectures visited the Prime Minister's Office on the afternoon of the 6th and met with Prime Minister Kishida, and asked him to clarify the outlook for the opening date in light of the current situation in which talks between Shizuoka Prefecture and JR Central over construction work in Shizuoka Prefecture have been difficult, making it difficult to open the facility in 2027 as planned.

In addition, in order to make effective use of the opening of the Linear Chuo Shinkansen, we requested cooperation for the revitalization of the region, such as promoting tourism and attracting companies around the new stations that are scheduled to be established in each prefecture.

In response, Prime Minister Kishida replied, "For the intermediate station area, the three major metropolitan areas will be within commuting distance, and lifestyles and work styles will change significantly.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Governor Furuta of Gifu Prefecture said, "The timing of the opening of the road is important information for concretizing future plans and visions.
