Due to the special importance of the case, the Prosecutor General's Office today took over the investigation into the case of a 35-year-old Turkish national, who is accused, among other things, of hostage-taking, abduction of minors and offences under the Weapons Act.

On Monday afternoon, the investigating judge in charge issued an arrest warrant. The accused is strongly suspected of having gained access to his ex-wife's apartment in Stade on November 4 around 19 p.m. using a ruse and forcibly kidnapping their four-year-old daughter, who lives there.

Shortly before 19:30 p.m., he is said to have driven with the child in the direction of Hamburg. There, according to the police, he broke through a barrier system to the airport grounds with the car shortly after 20 p.m. On the premises, he shot into the air, ignited two incendiary devices, which were quickly extinguished. After long negotiations with the police, the man gave up at 14:28 p.m. on Sunday and was arrested.
