The ailing TV and streaming company Viaplay announced earlier this year that it has initiated a review of its entire business. Recently, the company also postponed its quarterly report in order to be able to finalize negotiations on how the business will be financed going forward.

In addition to a reduction in staff, several drama series that were supposed to premiere in the fall of 2023 are also affected.

"It's no secret that Viaplay Group is facing financial challenges. Going forward, we won't have the same frequency of our own drama premieres as before," says Susanne Nylén, Head of Media Relations at Viaplay.

Conduct a review

Among the drama series that would have been shown during the autumn are, among other things, the second season of "Threesome" and the major investment "Ronja the Robber's Daughter" with Pernilla August and Johan Ulveson in two of the roles.

When, if and by whom the announced series will be shown is unclear.

"It's true that there are some titles that have been postponed from 2023. All titles are on the table for a review for premieres in the future," says Susanne Nylén.

Of the planned TV series, only one, "Strandhotellet" season 2, has been launched during the autumn. "Börje" with Valter Skarsgård in the role of Börje Salming, will also be shown starting on November 19. Otherwise, all other premieres have been mothballed.

"Yes, these are the two self-produced drama titles that will premiere in 2023. Exactly what happens to the others, we are looking at right now. At present, we have no other information to give," says Susanne Nylén.
