In an interview with "La Tribune" this weekend, Marc-Olivier Fogiel reacted for the very first time to Bruce Toussaint's departure from TF1. The head of BFMTV attacked La Une, which allegedly tried to poach about twenty of its journalists.

Marc-Olivier Fogiel still can't believe it. A month ago, Bruce Toussaint announced that he was leaving BFMTV to host TF1's morning news from January 2024. A surprising transfer, made just three months into the new media season.

"Bruce would have preferred to stay until June"

"In 25 years in the business, it's the first time I've seen this!" exclaimed the BFMTV boss in an interview with La Tribune. Marc-Olivier Fogiel then attacked TF1's methods. "Bruce told me he would have preferred to stay until June. But it was an urgent request from TF1 that he couldn't resist. Without being paranoid, we can wonder if there is not a desire to destabilize. Especially when you see that for the past year, TF1 has been trying to poach about twenty people from BFMTV, on and off the air," the BFMTV boss said.

The announcement of the departure of Bruce Toussaint, a pillar of BFMTV's morning show, had the effect of a bombshell. The private channel had to draw up a new schedule for the month of January, which was unprecedented. With his back against the wall, Marc-Olivier Fogiel had no choice but to draw on his in-house talents to replace Bruce Toussaint. Maxime Switek, who has been the embodiment of 2020 p.m. to midnight since 22, will take the helm of BFM's 9 a.m. to noon show in January.

Maxime Switek will himself be replaced by Julie Hammett, host of the early evening slot (20-22 p.m.) alongside Laurent Ruquier since the start of the school year.
