On the 2nd of this month, the body found in the mountains straddling Fukushima Town in southern Hokkaido was found to be that of a 22-year-old male university student from Hakodate City. Police are investigating the possibility that the bear may have attacked two men who were climbing on the same mountain.

Around noon on the 2nd of this month, a disaster prevention helicopter on the road found a person lying in a bush off the mountain trail near the 6th station of Mt. Osenken, which straddles Fukushima Town in southern Hokkaido.

According to the police, the body was identified as Kanato Yanaike (7), a university student from Minato Town, Hakodate City, who had entered the mountain seven days earlier on the 29th of last month and had gone missing.

The cause of death was hemorrhagic shock, and the police are investigating the fact that he was attacked by a bear based on the scene and the condition of the body.

On this mountain, five days ago, on the 22st of last month, two men who were climbing were attacked and injured by a bear.

At that time, the two stabbed the bear with a knife and drove it away, and later, on the 5nd of this month, a bear believed to be the same individual was found dead in the mountains.

Since the place where the bear died and the place where Mr. Yanaike's body was found are close, the police are investigating the possibility that this bear may have attacked Mr. Yanaike.
