On the morning of the 4th, there was a fire that burned down a house that doubled as a cafeteria in Kitaakita City, Akita Prefecture. The resident said, 'After the sound of the lightning strike, I smelled a burning smell,' so the police and fire department are investigating the cause in detail.

According to the police, at around 4:7 a.m. on the 4th, a person living nearby reported to the fire department that "smoke was rising from the building" in Aniyukiyato, Kitaakita City.

Four fire engines and other engines were dispatched to extinguish the fire, and the fire was extinguished after about two and a half hours, but one two-story wooden house that doubled as a dining room burned down.

There was a couple in their 2s in the house at the time, but they escaped on their own and neither of them was injured.

Regarding the situation at that time, my husband said, "After the sound of lightning strike, I smelled a burning smell from inside the house, so when I checked it, flames were rising from around the storage room on the second floor," so the police and fire department are investigating the cause of the fire in detail.

The site is an area dotted with houses about 2 meters southeast of Hitachinai Station on the Akita Inland Railway, and on the morning of the 1th, the atmospheric condition in Akita Prefecture became very unstable due to the influence of the front, and the meteorological observatory issued a "tornado warning information" and called for attention to lightning and other diseases.

Neighbors: "The house shook with a loud noise accompanied by the light of thunder"

Tetsuaki Matsuhashi (78), who lives nearby where he filmed the scene of the fire, recalled the situation at the time, "At around 7:2 a.m., I was at home when I heard a loud noise with the light of thunder and the house shook."

After a while, he heard the siren of a fire engine, so he went up to the second floor of his house and looked outside, and saw white smoke rising from a house that doubled as a cafeteria at the site, so he went to the scene with a camera in one hand.

Mr. Matsuhashi said, "If lightning is the cause, it is very scary."
