At the zoo in Suzaka City, Nagano Prefecture, the annual "Capybara Onsen" has opened to help capybaras, who do not like the cold, survive the harsh winter in good spirits.

Suzaka City Zoo has a special warm bath "Capybara Onsen" at this time of year for capybaras that live near water in South America and are vulnerable to cold.

The two capybaras get into fights quickly, so since last year, we have started to prepare separate bathtubs.

The capybara, who had been waiting for the opening of the bathtub on the lid of the bathtub in the occasional cold wind, immediately soaked in the hot water to warm himself when the lid was opened at 2 a.m.

On the 1st, chrysanthemum flowers floated in the bathtub to coincide with the "Suzaka City Large Chrysanthemum Flower Exhibition" held at Garyu Park, where the zoo is located, and visitors enjoyed watching capybaras eat chrysanthemum flowers while soaking in the hot water.

Second-grade elementary school children who visited from Nagano City on a field trip said, "It was cute to soak in the hot water and squint their eyes."

Mr. Daiku Ogura, a zookeeper at the Suzaka City Zoo, said, "I would like you to see the capybaras relaxing."

The capybara hot spring at Suzaka City Zoo will be open until the end of February next year.
