Police in Cologne shot at a 16-year-old on Tuesday evening, who, according to witnesses, threatened several people with a knife. This was announced by the public prosecutor's office and the police on Wednesday night. The 16-year-old was taken to hospital and treated in intensive care. There was no danger to life.
On Wednesday morning, a police spokesman said that the teenager had been hit in the groin area. It is unclear whether several shots were fired. In the press release of the police, there is talk of a shot.
Threatened passers-by with a knife?
So far, nothing is known about the background of the incident in the Blumenberg district. Witnesses had reported to the police that the 16-year-old had run after passers-by with a knife in his hand.
The Bonn police have taken over the investigations in Cologne. Since there were indications that the 16-year-old may have consumed alcohol and drugs, a doctor took blood from the teenager on the order of the police.
