At a special nursing home for the elderly operated by Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture, it was found that the residents were living in the corridor because the air conditioner broke down last summer. At that time, there was a possibility that diapers were changed without a partition in the corridor, and the residents' families were not informed, so Toyohashi City began to investigate the actual situation.

At Tsutsuji-so, which is operated by Toyohashi City, the air conditioners in three rooms broke down in early August, so four male and female residents between the ages of 8 and 3 were placed in an air-conditioned corridor to live.

The bed in the hallway was not partitioned, and it is possible that the resident's family had been changing diapers for about three weeks, and that the resident's family was not informed that the bed was placed in the hallway.

Also, in August last year, the air conditioner broke down and six residents were forced to live in the corridor for about a month.

Toyohashi City and a special nursing home for the elderly held a press conference at the city hall on June 3 to explain the background.

Mayor Yoshitaka Asai apologized, saying, "There was a lack of consideration for privacy, and it was also inappropriate not to explain to the families of the residents about their location."

Toyohashi City will conduct interviews with facility staff to grasp the actual situation.
