In response to the witness examination of the president of KyoAni at the trial of the arson murder case of "Kyoto Animation", and the defendant Shinji Aoba claimed that "KyoAni stole the idea of the novel", the president said, "It is not a company that can steal people's ideas.

Shinji Aoba, 45, is accused of murder, arson, and other crimes for dousing gasoline and setting fire to the first studio of Kyoto Animation in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto four years ago, killing 4 employees and seriously injuring 2019 others.

In previous trials, the defendant's lawyers have pleaded not guilty, saying they were not responsible.

During the witness examination on the 2nd, Kyoto Animation President Hideaki Hatta took the witness stand.

At that time, President Hatta commented on the situation after being informed that it was a fire, saying, "I thought it was something like a boya, but the smoke was already rising, and there were fire trucks and ambulances that prevented me from approaching.

In response to Aoba's claim that KyoAni stole the idea of the novel, he said, "It is not a company where you can steal people's ideas, but a company where everyone seriously thinks for themselves and has meetings, and that is why the work came out into the world. It is truly heartbreaking that the incident occurred because of the defendant's assumption."

When asked about his thoughts on the trial, he said, "I believe in the Japan justice system, so I believe that a proper verdict will be issued."
