Ahead of next year's "Kokuspo/All Disability Sport" to be held in Saga Prefecture, a sailing competition venue in Karatsu City was held by local elementary school students to experience yachting.

This event is held every year by Oshi Elementary School in Karatsu City to let children know the charms of the area.

On the 27th, more than 4 fourth-year students gathered at the Saga Yacht Harbor in Karatsu City, the venue for sailing competitions, for the National Sports Festival and the National Sports Games for the Disabled to be held in the prefecture next year.

First of all, the person in charge of the Prefectural Sports Association taught me the appeal of sailing, saying, "Sailing is a sport where you compete based on the total score of all schedules, so even if you fail once, you have a chance to recover depending on your efforts after that."

After this, the children put on life jackets and moved to the dock, where they were taught how to operate the yacht by the current athletes.

Then, we boarded a yacht called "Hansa" that people with disabilities and children can enjoy, and enjoyed the feeling of moving the sails and reading the wind as if they were watching as they watched.

One of the girls who participated said, "I was scared at first because I didn't know whether to move right or left, but it was a lot of fun.

A boy in a wheelchair said, "It was difficult to pull the rope and operate the sails, but I thought I could do it if I tried, and it felt good on the boat."
