The National Police Agency and the Cabinet Cybersecurity Center have issued a warning that the China-based cyberattack group "BlackTech" is targeting governments and companies in East Asia and the United States, including Japan.

The National Police Agency and the Cabinet Cybersecurity Center, together with the US National Security Agency and others, have released a warning document about a cyberattack group called "BlackTech".

"BlackTech" is one of the cyberattack groups backed in China, and since around 1, it is said that it has been conducting cyberattacks aimed at information theft targeting the governments and telecommunications sectors of East Asia, including Japan, and the United States.

According to the National Police Agency, there have been confirmed cases in which the group is suspected of involvement in attacks on Japan organizations.

The document points out vulnerabilities in network devices such as routers as a gateway for attacks, and it has been confirmed that the method of infiltrating the network of the head office is confirmed, especially targeting network equipment used by overseas subsidiaries and eventually infiltrating the network of the head office.

Countermeasures include
promptly correcting vulnerabilities found in network equipment and software,
and continuously monitoring for suspicious activity in the network.
