Love out and quarrel about the children: Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner

A few weeks after the announcement of their divorce, the British actress Sophie Turner (27, "Game of Thrones") has asked the US singer Joe Jonas (34, "Sucker") in court to hand over their two children. The daughters, born in 2020 and 2022, were unlawfully detained in New York, according to the court document, which was obtained by the dpa news agency.

"The father is in possession of the children's passports," the document reads. "He refuses to return the mother's passports, and he refuses to send the children home to England with the mother."

Turner and Jonas had announced their divorce plans about two weeks ago, describing them as a "joint decision". In the court document, however, Turner now writes that she learned "from the media" that Jonas had filed for divorce.

PR strategies and a meeting with Taylor Swift

Apart from the joint statement via Instagram, Turner has not yet publicly commented on the separation. On Tuesday night, however, she was spotted by fans and paparazzi eating in New York — with none other than Taylor Swift. The Internet quickly agreed, this timing of the meeting was no coincidence. Taylor Swift also had a relationship with Joe Jonas, which he ended with little empathy. In a 27-second message, he allegedly spoke to the singer about his desire to break up on the voicemail.

Now the divorce from wife Sophie Turner does not seem to go particularly smoothly. The gossip press in the USA ran hot after the announcement of the separation and speculated together with the Internet, which led to the discord of the It couple. Many Twitter and TikTok users noticed that most of the articles seemed to come from Joe Jonas' camp, portraying him as the responsible father of two children, she as a party-loving and absent mother.

But the singer's PR strategy seems to have backfired. Turner fans pulled interviews from the archives in which the actress said the lockdown would be good for her because she likes to stay at home and often can't keep up with her husband, who often goes out. Jonas is also said to have been no support for Turner after the birth of their second child, who struggled to reappear in public after the pregnancy. He urged her to participate in events with him again, even though she wasn't ready yet. The internet saw through Jonas' strategy, which some suspect could be related to the upcoming custody issue, and backed Turner.

Jonas and Turner got engaged in 2017 and then tied the knot twice in 2019 – in Las Vegas in May and in France in July.
