The singer Peter Maffay goes on a farewell tour. The 74-year-old said on Thursday in Cologne that he will play a coherent tour with his musicians for the last time next year: "This will be the last of this kind." Maffay cited family reasons for withdrawing from the rhythm of touring. He wants to give more space to his private life.

Only recently it became known that the 74-year-old had married his 38 years younger partner Hendrikje Balsmeyer a long time ago without making this public. The two have a little daughter together, whom he wants to see grow up. "I don't want to miss it," Maffay said.

The tour goes through ten cities. It starts on 21 June in Rostock and ends on 28 July in Leipzig. Just over a month later, on 30 August, Maffay will be 75 years old. However, the artist does not want to say goodbye to the stage completely: he wants to continue performing at individual concerts or festivals.

The opening act for Maffay's »We Love Rock 'n' Roll – Farewell Tour 2024« will feature US singer Anastacia. Together, the two pressed a buzzer at the press event, which symbolically started the pre-sale. Anastacia's album with cover versions of German hits from the last decades, which will be released on Friday, also features an English version of the Peter Maffay classic »So bist du«.
