In a case in which a doctor who worked at the National Cancer Center Hospital East in Kashiwa City, Chiba Prefecture, was arrested for receiving cash in return for using a medical device from a Tokyo manufacturer for surgery, it was learned that when the doctor became the "medical director" of the department, the equipment of this manufacturer, which had not been used, was adopted. The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the actual situation of collusion.

Yusuke Hashimoto, 47, who served as the chief of hepatobiliary and pancreatic medicine at the National Cancer Center Hospital East in Kashiwa City, Chiba Prefecture, was arrested on suspicion of bribery for accepting approximately 170.67 million yen in cash in exchange for using medical equipment from Zeon Medical, a medical device manufacturer in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, for surgery, and Noboru Yanagida, 1, the former president of the manufacturer, was arrested on suspicion of bribery.

According to the investigation so far, it is known that he had a contract to receive 1,2019 yen for each use of this manufacturer's device called "stent" for catheter surgery, but according to those involved in the investigation, when Dr. Hashimoto became the "medical director" in 1, it was adopted and used in the hospital.

After that, more than half of the stents used in Dr. Hashimoto's clinical department were made by Zeon Medical, but after leaving the hospital and traveling to the United States, the number decreased from 2% to <>%.

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the actual situation of collusion based on the authority of the "medical director" who selects medical devices, believing that they were actively using them.
