The Australian progressive metal band Voyager from Perth has cancelled their European tour after their Lower Saxony frontman Danny Estrin was diagnosed with cancer. The five-piece band, which represented Australia at this year's ESC in Liverpool, planned to perform in Hamburg, Berlin and Munich in October. The 41-year-old Estrin has a strong connection to Germany: He grew up in Buchholz in the Nordheide (Lower Saxony). (Here is an Instagram video from a visit to the old homeland)

"Last week I received a life-changing message: I was diagnosed with cancer that requires immediate treatment," the musician wrote on Facebook on Thursday. "I am absolutely devastated that we have to cancel our upcoming European tour, especially after this incredible Eurovision year."

With the energetic song »Promise«, the band, founded in 1999, took ninth place in Liverpool. The eighth studio album »Fearless in Love« was released in July.

The tour is expected to be postponed to October 2024, Estrin wrote. Voyager will perform again next Sunday at an event in Fremantle, Western Australia, before starting his treatment. After that, he wants to concentrate completely on his health and his family. On social networks, numerous fans wished him a speedy recovery.
