"Good Things Become Pairs" explores the growth and transformation of women in the new era

Produced by CCTV and Xixi Pictures, with Yang Xiaopei as the artistic director and chief producer, and Teng Huatao as the director and chief director, the urban women's inspirational emotional drama "Good Things Become Pairs" is currently being broadcast on CCTV-8 Golden Strong and broadcast exclusively on Tencent Video. Starring Zhang Xiaofei, Huang Xiaoming, Zhang Jiani and Li Zefeng, the play delicately depicts the diverse dilemmas faced by contemporary urban women in family and workplace from a female perspective, and explores the growth and transformation of women in the new era through the intertwined life stories of urban women such as Lin Shuang (played by Zhang Xiaofei) and Jiang Xi (played by Zhang Jiani), showing their upward spirit of overcoming difficulties and reinventing themselves.

Rooted in reality, it depicts the diverse plight of urban women

Lin Shuang is an IT engineer, but quit her job after getting pregnant and having a child and chose to become a full-time housewife. In the process of revolving around family affairs every day, as an urban elite woman, she has to adapt to the gap after losing her job, and on the other hand, she has to endure her husband's caustic evaluation of her "philistine and incomprehensible customs", falling into the dilemma of self-worth cognition. In addition, Lin Shuang was sick and feverish and caught up with the child's sudden allergy, and made dozens of calls to her husband Wei Ming (played by Li Zefeng) without answering, so he had to support the sick body and take the child to the doctor alone. Wei Ming, who only returned home the next day, first blamed her for not taking good care of the child, and then lightly explained that he did not answer the phone because he was in a meeting. Many viewers lamented on the barrage that such "widowed parenting" was so real that it was suffocating.

It is worth mentioning that "Good Things in Pairs" not only focuses on the family life and intimate relationships of urban women, but also portrays the diverse dilemmas of women in the workplace and life from a broader dimension. For example, Jiang Xi in the play is a "small-town girl" who grew up in adversity, has her own fantasies about big city life, she has encountered sexual harassment and unfair treatment in the workplace, and also faces life problems such as rising rents and paying family expenses alone.

Depict growth and show the upward spirit of reinventing yourself

"Good Things Become Pairs" does not blindly tell the real plight of women, but through the inspirational stories of urban women such as Lin Shuang and Jiang Xi who set sail against the wind in their difficulties, showing their upward spirit of overcoming difficulties and reinventing themselves.

Just like in the play, Lin Shuang did not slump after experiencing the change of her husband's cheating. She quickly made up her mind to take action, on the one hand, she consulted divorce lawyer Si Yi and invited Jiang Xi to join forces to find a way to prevent Wei Ming from transferring the joint property of the husband and wife, and took her share in return; On the other hand, she took great courage to return to the workforce and prove that she had enough financial means to raise her children independently. With tenacious perseverance and unremitting efforts, Lin Shuang overcame the practical dilemma of full-time mothers returning to the workplace and regained the sparkling self she once was.

Lin Shuang not only braved difficulties and challenges, but also taught her daughter Little Apple by word and deed, encouraging Little Apple to persist in completing various challenges in the parent-child games, bravely facing the discrimination and difficulties encountered in learning ice hockey, giving full play to her strengths and pursuing her dreams.

"Good Things Come in Pairs" shows the audience the real plight faced by urban women with different identities, different occupations and different backgrounds, as well as their hesitation and struggle, awakening and growth in the predicament, broadening the depth and breadth of the drama's expression of women's issues. Lin Shuang, Jiang Xi and other female characters show that they are not afraid of difficulties in the process of trying to digest difficulties and solve difficulties, and the spirit of daring to start again reflects the touching character arc, which can inspire young people to have the courage to change the status quo and seek breakthroughs.
