At a psychiatric hospital in Hachioji City, Tokyo, where a nurse assaulted an inpatient, welfare organizations and others have requested the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to promptly transfer patients who wish to do so.

In February, a nurse assaulted an inpatient at Takiyama Hospital, a psychiatric hospital in Hachioji City, Tokyo, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government issued an improvement order and provided support for transferring and discharging patients who wished to do so.

Representatives of local welfare organizations visited the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office on the 2th and requested the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to promptly transfer patients.

According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, 2 of the 145 hospitalized patients have been transferred or discharged since February 31 after the incident was discovered, while more than 29 have wished to be transferred with their families as of February 20.

By the end of July, 7 people had died of illness.

Masanori Hosoe, CEO of the NPO Tomoni, said, "We would like to cooperate with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government so that those who wish to transfer to the hospital can transfer as soon as possible."

The person in charge of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government said, "There are many people with illnesses and it is difficult to find a place to transfer to, but we would like to continue to look for them."
