According to the Tottori Prefectural River Division, part of the Takayama Bridge over the Saji River that flows through Tottori City collapsed.

In the camera image installed by Tottori Prefecture, the bridge was built until 4:50 p.m., but in the image taken at 5:30 p.m., you can see part of the bridge breaking and falling into the river.

In the image at about 6 p.m., you can see that a brown turbid current is flowing and part of the bridge is collapsing. You can see that the water level has risen, most of the embankment is invisible, and the river water is closing in on residential areas.

At the Sajigawa Dam, which is located upstream of Takayama Bridge, emergency discharge was carried out from around 4:40 p.m., and in the image at around 6:30 p.m., the river water flows violently, and the water level is approaching just below the bridge.

In addition, this Saji River joins the Chiyo River, which has a flood risk advisory downstream.

The prefectural government is checking the extent of the damage and urging people to stay away from the river.

The person who filmed the collapse of the bridge

Wataru Okamoto, who lives along the Saji River in Kuzuya, Saji-cho, Tottori City, filmed the bridge over the river collapsing from the second floor of his house.

In the video at around 2 p.m., river water is flowing violently between the piers.

In the video from around 2 p.m., immediately after the special warning was announced, you can see that the front part of the bridge is bent in the shape of a "ku".

In the video 5 minutes later, about half of the bridge girders were washed away.

Mr. Okamoto was evacuating to an evacuation center with his family, and said, "I could hear the river water flowing through logs and rocks, and I could hear the sound of the river hitting the bridge violently. There are mountains near my house, so I was worried about landslides, so I evacuated."
