Dirt road in Emmerich: Securing evidence at the site where the body was found

On Monday, the police searched for a missing 23-year-old woman in Siegen, North Rhine-Westphalia. The body of the young woman was discovered about 200 kilometers away, on the german-Dutch border. A comparison of photos showed that the dead woman found in Emmerich was the 23-year-old missing, a police spokesman said on Monday evening. She had been the victim of a violent crime.

In the course of the investigation, the police arrested a 23-year-old suspect in Siegen in the early afternoon, according to a statement. There was no further information on the course of events, the background and the motive. For further investigations, a homicide squad had been set up, it said.

A farmer had found the missing woman dead in the morning on a dirt road near the Autobahn 3 in Emmerich. During the search operation in a forest northeast of Siegen, in addition to a hundred riot police, sniffer dogs and a helicopter were also used.
