She is not only the face of »Barbie«, but also one of the brains behind the blockbuster: As a leading actress and producer, Margot Robbie has played a decisive role in the surprise success of this cinema summer. This is now paying off for the Australian. As the industry service »Variety« reports, Robbie will earn around 50 million US dollars from »Barbie«. The figure is made up of her actress salary, as well as bonuses from the film's success at the box office. "Barbie" has grossed $1.18 billion worldwide so far. The budget is said to have been $145 million.

For Warner Bros., the film is the second most successful in the history of the studio, only "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" has grossed more. In addition, »Barbie« is the most successful film by a female director.

In all likelihood, however, "Barbie" will miss a record: With a profit of 50 million dollars, Margot Robbie does exceptionally well. But Sandra Bullock earned even more from the success of her spaceship adventure »Gravity«. The Oscar winner is said to have ended up with around 70 million dollars, as she had negotiated a 20 percent share of the box office success as well as shares in the DVD and television exploitation in addition to her salary of 15 million. With a budget of $100 million, »Gravity« grossed just under $750 million.
