In an altercation between three men in Lauenburg, two of them were seriously injured by the other's dog. This was announced by the police.

According to the police, this was preceded by an incident in which the 43-year-old, who was later injured, encountered the 22-year-old and his American Staffordshire Terrier on the street and suddenly attacked the animal with an unspecified "striking object". In addition, he is also said to have kicked it.

Attack with axe?

After the 43-year-old had initially left, he came back a short time later together with a 19-year-old and met the 22-year-old and his dog again. Again, both men carried a "striking object" with them. According to the "Bild" newspaper, this is said to have been an axe.

This led to the physical altercation between the three participants. The background of the incident and the exact sequence of events are still unclear, according to police.

American Staffordshire Terriers are often referred to as so-called fighting dogs. In many federal states, they are on so-called breed lists, which are based on the assumption that some breeds are more aggressive than others from birth. This is controversial among experts.
