The police are investigating members of the fire brigade in Gundelsheim (Heilbronn district) because they are said to have shouted a right-wing slogan from a vehicle. A corresponding criminal complaint from the city of Gundelsheim was received on Thursday, said a police spokeswoman in Heilbronn.

The investigations on suspicion of using the symbols of unconstitutional organizations are currently directed against unknown persons, the spokeswoman said. The spokeswoman did not give any further details. First, the »Heilbronner Stimme« had reported.

The firefighters are said to have shouted "Sieg Heil" from a team car on their way back from an event in mid-July, the city administration said. The accused were immediately released from duty. They had sought a conversation with them, but the allegations had not been sufficiently refuted, it said. That's why the city filed a complaint. She did not provide any information on the number of accused.

Similar incident in Leonberg

"There is a great deal of agreement that allegations that contradict the lived values of the city and the fire brigade must be clarified," says a statement from Mayor Heike Schokatz (non-party).

A similar incident had occurred in mid-July in Leonberg (district of Böblingen). Members of the volunteer fire brigade are said to have spread right-wing extremist slogans over the loudspeaker of a fire engine. Five men between the ages of 23 and 36 are still being investigated.
