  • MomenTVS The Grand Prix of the Summer bursts RTVE: a return to nostalgia that makes the hair like scars

It is clear that without heifer there is no Grand Prix of Summer. That is why Carlo Boserman, producer of the program, never doubted that despite the new times and the new rules that do not allow live animals in television programs, the new Summer Grand Prix had to have its heifer.

He fixed it quickly: a costume, Miguel del Pozo – the mascot dolphin of the Estudiantes – and a change in the rules of The Summer Grand Prix in which the heifer would now go out to disturb whenever the mayors of the contestant towns activated the wild card button.

Every week, the heifer has a name. That hasn't changed. Last night, in the third program of The Summer Grand Prix was Gabriela. However, under Gabriela, María Fernanda and the name that Ramón García wants to give him, there is always the same person, Del Pozo, who last night became more protagonist than ever when he was 'attacked' by one of the contestants of Aguilar de Campoo.

18 years ago it was unthinkable that any of the contestants of The Grand Prix of the Summer of that time would cross his mind to face the heifer. The best thing was to run, dodge it and try not to see you and, above all, not to ram you. Now, the work of the current heifer is much lighter. When a mayor activates the wild card button, the heifer comes out, takes a mass bath with the public of the town that has given the button, and annoys the other town in the test for which it has been chosen.

They are tiny annoyances. Nor does it pass and much less release the firewood that its predecessors released. Now they give him a stick with a heart, or a stick with a finger pointing, or a plastic log and all he has to do is hinder the opposing team to fail in that test. It has nothing to do with the heifer of yesteryear, but the solution was the best to keep that heifer that means so much to The Grand Prix.

Last night, however, Gabriela, "the heifer who sings Zarzuela and dresses with pamela", was the one who received the firewood from one of the contestants of Aguilar de Campoo. "I won the ball, and I laughed a lot, although it is not noticeable," Miguel del Pozo said last night on Twitter after becoming one of the most commented content of the social network.

It was in the diaper basketball test. The contestants of each town -Cervelló and Aguilar de Campoo-, dressed in an uncomfortable costume of giant babies and with their legs joined by an elastic belt, had to cross, platoon in hand, the conveyor belt and reach the basket where they would throw hoping to score. Yes, it is one of the tests of The Grand Prix where there are secured firewoods.

Cervelló had previously activated the wild button with the help of the heifer Gabriela, who strategically placed herself on the side of the tape with her accusing fingerstick to try to get out the contestants of Aguilar de Campoo.

At that time of the contest the people of Palencia were losing, so they played a lot. In the first round of the test, the heifer did not act. Their work began in the second round. And it waswithout knowing that the one who was going to take the gauntlet of the night was going to be her.

A contestant from Aguilar de Campoo managed to get going on the terrible conveyor belt and when he was only a little more than a meter away from reaching the basket, Gabriela pulled him from the belt. His reaction was mythical: he grabbed the ball and without thinking twice threw it against the heifer who took a good and unexpected ball causing laughter and leaving Ramón García and Cristinini dumbfounded who were at the foot of the test commenting on the play.

Who would have thrown a ball at the heifer 20 years ago? Nobody. And although Ramón García did not give it more importance than to see him in the repetition of the test, the networks were immediately filled with comments. And among them that of the man who really took the ball, Miguel del Pozo, who not only revealed that it is he who is under the heifers of El Grand Prix but if he had been the one who was competing, he would have done the same as the contestant of Aguilar de Campoo: "I am the one who goes inside the heifer ... And if I had been in the contestant's shoes, I would have done the same."

In addition, one of the tweeters asked him if he could talk later with the contestant who 'attacked' him and Miguel del Pozo was not only sincere and said no, he did not talk to him, but he pulled a sense of humor: "I think not, I don't know if I saw his face hahaha. But come on, there is very, very good vibes among all: team, towns, pets ... all. Between games we discussed the above and laughed. I think it's part of the success, we have a lot of fun doing it."

There is no doubt about the success of The Grand Prix. Last night the program again made incredible audiences: more than 20% of screen share and 1,714,000 viewers on average. The secret, the nostalgia and that fun to which the heifer man refers.

In fact, last night's Summer Grand Prix was a heart attack. Not only because of the result and the unexpected victory of Aguilar Campoo after having lost almost the entire program, but because the two teams left their skin in each test. There is the pique of the contestant of Aguilar de Campoo with the heifer, but also the blow that the captain of the Palencia team hit in the test of Los Trogloditas.

This test is a kind of gymkhana in which a team first comes out avoiding some complicated obstacles and being chased by a member of the opposing team. The goal is to get a dinosaur egg that is located at the top of the complicated ramp of The Grand Prix.

Well, one of the obstacles in a wall built with mats that the contestant has to jump. The captain of the Aguilar de Campoo team jumped doing a somersault and fell sharply with her back, staying for a few seconds that became eternal lying on the mat without being able to move. "I've broken my back," he later told Ramon Garcia.

For a moment it seemed that the Grand Prix was going to have the first injured of its new season, but the captain of Aguilar de Campoo recovered, drew strength from where she could, ignored the pain and got the egg so necessary so that her team did not lose the opportunity to win the program.

After the test of Basketball in diapers, The Troglodytes and The Penguins mathematicians, Aguillar de Campoo and Cervelló were almost tied. Everything was decided in the alphabet. In this test, where the sponsors and mayors have to answer several questions -the correct ones add 3 points, the incorrect ones remove 3-, as already happened last week with Yepes, Aguilar de Campoo threw the rest and ended up beating Cervelló by 26 to 20 after having gone all night losing. Ramón García always says it, "in the ABC test everything is decided", but in the old ones pride is played.
