An Egyptian hotel's eviction of an Israeli model and her complaint about the matter – which she considered an "insult" she had not been subjected to before – sparked widespread interaction on social media.

Israeli model Shai Zanko, who is popular on Instagram, received an invitation from American rapper Travis Scott and his team to accompany him to the concert, which was scheduled to take place at the foot of the Giza pyramids before it was canceled.

But Zanko decided to stay for a tour of Egypt, posting photos on her Instagram account while inspecting historical and archaeological sites, including the Giza pyramids.

According to her account, one day after her stay at the hotel, some of its staff came to her and asked her to leave immediately, and she left directly to the airport.

In a television interview, Zanko recounted the details of the incident: "While I was sitting by the sea and relaxing in the hotel's pool, suddenly the hotel manager and security arrived with a copy of my Israeli passport and started searching our bags, then they asked us to get up and leave the hotel."

The Israeli model expressed her feeling about what happened to her in Egypt, saying, "I was very nervous and I really felt insulted, over the past years I never felt anti-Semitism, or a problem because I am Jewish and Israeli, and this time it was something else."

In the context, the newspaper Cairo 24, quoted a source inside the Chamber of Hotel Establishments, confirming that: "There is no decision from the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism to prevent the entry of specific nationalities to hotels."

Meanwhile, the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism intends to open an investigation into the incident, as the source of the Chamber of Hotel Establishments indicated to the newspaper that "the hotel is not licensed for tourism, and the necessary measures will be taken against it in accordance with the Hotel Establishments Law."

Divergent positions

The "Shabakat" program (2023/8/8) monitored part of the interaction of tweeters with the story of the expulsion of the model from a hotel in Egypt, including what Roqaya Hassan tweeted: "Bravo to him and our Lord many like him, his right prevents Zionists from entering his hotel."

Wael Kandil wrote: "A salute to the Egyptian hotel that expelled the infiltrating Zionist model at the invitation of American rapper Travis Scott."

Karam Khalil said, "The question remains... This beautiful hotel when I came with Travis' team and an invitation from him and she was present in the hotel a while ago, and then when the party was cancelled and the team traveled, and she is the one who kept discovering that she belongs to the entity.. Are these hotels that are very rigid and do not see the passport of the guest until after 10 days"?

On the other hand, Issa Abu Salman tweeted: "Ok Israeli tourist and the state allows it to enter the mistake on the hotel, which contradicts the decisions of the government," Mohsen also agreed by saying, "She has long taken a visa and entered Egypt is supposed to be treated as any tourist or guest in our country."

Mohsen continues: "Kicking her out is wrong from my point of view and harms the country. The Zionist media in the whole world can take advantage of this incident to hit tourism in Egypt, and thus harm workers in this sector."
