During a police operation in the rocker milieu at the end of July in Bielefeld, special forces made a mistake in the door, stormed the wrong apartment and injured a resident. The 35-year-old homeowner and his wife, 34, had been taken to a hospital as a precaution, a police spokesman told the dpa news agency.

The police regret this, it said. Police chief Sandra Müller-Steinhauer personally apologized to the two victims in the hospital on the same day and offered help, it said. The mission will be followed up to check how the error could have occurred. Several media outlets had previously reported on the police's mistake.

On July 26, the police had searched several properties in the city of Bielefeld with a large contingent. According to the information, special forces were also used because the suspects from the rocker milieu were suspected of having weapons. Evidence had been secured, there had been no arrests.
