The Osaka District Public Prosecutor's Office has charged a 34-year-old Osaka mother who was arrested and charged with causing her elementary school daughter to suffer from hypoglycemia by failing to feed her daughter enough and defrauding her daughter of mutual aid payments when she was hospitalized, for attempted extortion and fraud.

The defendant charged is Kasumi Nawata, 34, a part-time employee of Daito City, Osaka.

According to the indictment, when his daughter, who was 1 years old at the time, was hospitalized with hypoglycemia in January and February, he demanded on his mobile phone that his daughter not eat in order to extend the period, and even though he intentionally hospitalized his daughter, he concealed it and defrauded the mutual aid association of 2,8 yen paid when she was hospitalized. He is charged with attempted extortion and fraud.

The defendant had already been charged with injury for allegedly forcing his daughter to take adult laxatives and causing her to suffer from hypoglycemia by failing to feed her enough.

The prosecutor's office has not confirmed or denied the claim, but according to those involved in the investigation, it is silent.

On the other hand, Daito City, which received an anonymous report last year and had interviews between the defendant and his daughter, said, "I believe that the response at that time was appropriate, but I would like to look back on this case based on the contents of the trial so that similar cases do not occur in the future. We will respond in cooperation with child guidance centers."
