On the night of the 7th, a 86-year-old part-time employee was arrested by police for hitting an 64-year-old man with a mini car on a national highway in Shibata City, Niigata Prefecture, killing him and fleeing as it was.

Shortly after 7 p.m. on the 9th, Kayoji Yoshimura (86) of Gose City, Nara Prefecture, who was staying at a nearby accommodation facility, was found unconscious on the national highway in Nakasone, Shibata City, and died at the hospital where he was transported.

According to the police, from the security camera footage, it seems that Mr. Yoshimura was hit by a mini car and then collided with a subsequent car, and the mini car fled as it was, so the police were investigating it as a hit-and-run incident.

As a result, Takashi Tashiro (64), a part-time employee of Seiro Town, Niigata Prefecture, was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter by negligent driving and hit-and-run on suspicion of driving a mini car.

According to the investigation, he has admitted to the charges.

The subsequent car remained at the scene, and the police are investigating the details by asking the driver of this car about the situation.

The site is a straight road with two lanes on each side with good visibility, more than 3 kilometers northwest of JR Shibata Station.
